⁴⁷ Because you would not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness in your heart flowing from the abundance of everything he gave you, ⁴⁸ you will serve your enemies that the Lord will unleash against you in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and a lack of everything, and he will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

⁴⁹ He will bring a nation from far away against you, from the end of the earth, as fast as an eagle soars through the air, a nation whose language you do not understand,
